1. The service
RefConvert is a free tool, provided by Asif Altaf, that converts and formats bibliographic references in your browser. There is no account, no subscription and no payment. You may use it for private, academic and professional purposes.
2. Check every result
Reference parsing and formatting are automated and can be wrong or incomplete. Results are suggestions. You are responsible for checking references, citations and exports before you use them in theses, publications, grant applications or any other work. RefConvert does not replace the style guide of your institution, publisher or journal.
3. Your content
Text and files you enter remain yours. They are processed in your browser and are not sent to the operator. Only enter content you are allowed to use. Do not use the service for unlawful purposes or try to disrupt it, for example with automated mass requests.
4. Third-party services and styles
The optional Crossref check uses the Crossref REST API, which is subject to Crossref's own terms. Citation styles come from the Citation Style Language project and are used under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 licence. Style, publisher and software names are trademarks of their owners and are used only to describe compatibility.
5. Availability
The service is provided free of charge and without guarantee of availability. Features may change or be discontinued at any time.
6. Liability
The service is provided free of charge. The operator is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act. In all other cases, liability for slight negligence is excluded, as far as legally permitted. In particular, the operator is not liable for incorrect references, lost data or consequences of using the results without checking them.
7. Links
This site links to external websites. Their operators are solely responsible for their content.
8. Applicable law
German law applies. If you are a consumer, mandatory consumer protection rules of the country where you live remain unaffected.
